Happy World Book Day!
Doesn't that sound much better than 'Happy 400th Anniversary of the Deaths of William Shakespeare and Miguel de Cervantes'? Not to mention being much less of a mouthful.
UNESCO chose April 23, the date when we commemorate the deaths of these two greats of world literature, as a day to to promote reading, publishing and copyright around the globe. In fact, the full name of the observance is another bit of a mouthful: World Book and Copyright Day. (It's even wordier in Spanish: 'el Día Mundial del Libro y del Derecho de Autor.' Quite a 'trabalenguas,' i.e., tongue twister.)
