RATS more than half a foot long are trying to get into a Cheltenham flat – leaving its occupants terrified to be at home.
Paula Harding lives in the ground floor of a block of flats in St Paul's and said she was frightened to be there alone. She said rats began to move into the outside area of the Saracens Court home she shares with her 12-year-old daughter Poppy Benfield just after Christmas. But the problem slowly got worse and now she can't go an hour without seeing the pests outside her Swindon Road flat.
A friend even captured this picture of one of the creatures at the window of her flat.
The 42-year-old, who suffers from depression, said: "I have anxiety and normally find it really difficult to leave the house, and so it is important for me to be comfortable at home as I spend so much time there. But they are coming up the drains and around by the bins. It doesn't seem to affect the other flats but some of them are half a foot long and trying to get into my house..."
Paula reported the problem to her landlords, the Bromford Housing Association.
