If you're one who's likely to complain about personal space on flights, spare a thought for New Zealand's newest resident, Fanana.
The 2.6 meter [8.5 foot] male giraffe has made the flight across the Tasman [Sea], scraping in just under the maximum height requirements for the aircraft in his 2.9m-high cage. [9.5 ft]
Fanana, a nine-month-old who hails from NSW's Taronga Western Plains Zoo [in Australia], was lifted on to Auckland Airport's tarmac about 8am on Thursday.
So far Fanana hasn't had to be sedated and is described as 'easygoing'.
I plotted the route from the zoo in New South Wales to the airport in Aukland and the park in Christchurch on Google maps. Click here to view it.
