Two days ago Joseph Sincavage, a 72 year-old retired Marine living in Connecticut, insisted to a Stratford Star reporter :
“I am going to keep flying (the Nazi flag) until Obama changes his policies, resigns or gets impeached. I am going to stay with it on the basis of my First Amendment rights.”
But the next day he didn't fly the Nazi flag, replacing it instead with a U.S. Marine Corps flag. On Friday he told the Greenwich Time:
"In addition to the bad feelings that it has caused with my Jewish neighbors and my non-Jewish neighbors, cars have been slowing down to take pictures...One car even stopped to take pictures, and I was afraid that it was going to cause a car accident."
...He maintained that he's not a Nazi sympathizer, and insisted that the flag was only intended to be a way to protest the policies of the Obama administration.
He also said that he didn't want people to think that he equated Obama with Adolf Hitler.
And the Stratford Patch reported:
...at least one motorist drove by yelling obscenities.
“I never saw the unintended consequences,” Sincavage said.
