Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) will deliver a “Tea Party Response” to the State of the Union on Tuesday, immediately after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) delivers the official Republican response.
Tea Party Express, a political action committee, announced Friday afternoon that Paul will deliver the rebuttal at the National Press Club and that they will stream it live on their web site.
Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minn.) delivered the “tea party response” in 2011, and failed presidential candidate Herman Cain gave it last year.
It’s another potent reminder of the gaping, widening divide on the right. And it’s another data point to suggest that the junior senator from Kentucky is serious about a 2016 presidential campaign.
