How many people were shot in America on gun appreciation day, January 19, 2013? If my calculations are correct, at least 84 in total, 49 of which resulted in injuries and 35 which resulted in death. (Scroll down for the depressing details.)
Of course, we'll probably never know an exact answer to that question. Suffice it to say that it was just like any day in the USA - a day with a lot of people injured and killed with firearms.
In terms of the numbers of shootings at gun appreciation day events, five people were accidentally shot at three different locations: three in Raleigh, NC; one in Medina, Ohio; one in Indianapolis, Indiana.
Outside of gun appreciation day events, accidental and intentional shootings also occurred, some resulting in death. Below is at least a partial list. I do not believe any of these incidents involved shootings by police.
