Summer vacation is over and it's back to school for hard working teachers and students around the world - including those at an academy with a basic course in professional prostitution in the Spanish city of Valencia. The class is starting up again after the local district attorney's office wrapped up a criminal investigation begun following a complaint made in May.
The complaint was made by the Valencia region's Department of Justice and Social Welfare. It asked the public prosecutor's office to rule on whether the company might be guilty of 'pandering' by promising a job as a prostitute upon graduation. The office found that no crimes had been committed since there was no evidence that the course was neither a front for a prostitution operation, a scam or aimed at minors.
While pandering, or pimping, is illegal in Spain, there are no laws prohibiting prostitution. Some localities, such as Barcelona, have outlawed street solicitation, but legally (and illegally) operated brothels are common throughout the country.
Now Valencia's prostitution 'school' will reopen to offer its week long, two hour a day course for men and women 18 years or older. Advertisements promise that 'work is assured,' money can be earned 'fast and easy,' and although 'the beautiful get more work, don't count yourself out if you're ugly; the important thing is attitude.' Prospective students are told they will learn 'what to do, how to do it and where to do it.'
According to Branden, who has run the one-week course for the past eight years, 95 people, from the age of 19 to 45, have registered for the upcoming course. He claims they 'will know what they are getting in to. Prostitution is a career that many people live off from day to day, whether they are single or have a partner.'
Classes cover the history of the world's oldest profession, theory and practice, including how to employ sex toys, dildos and foreplay, as well as a review of the best positions in the Kama Sutra. A textbook is provided. No word as to whether internships are available.
