Wednesday was a bad day for Mitt Romney. He is taking flak from Republicans and Democrats alike for his untimely and inappropriate attack on Obama over the embassy attacks before the next of kin of the dead were even notified. Then Fox News released its latest poll showing that Obama is increasing his lead over Romney.
The Fox News poll confirms nearly every other poll that shows that after both conventions, President Obama has benefited from a significant bounce. In several polls, Obama is over 50%. Fox shows Obama with a 48% to 43% lead over Romney among likely voters.
Fox News reports that Obama has benefited from an increase in support from women as well as independents to give him a post-convention advantage over Mitt Romney. The president receives a five percentage-point bounce among women and a 12-point bounce among independents according to the Fox News poll released Wednesday.
The Fox poll shows Obama leads Romney among all women by 14 points and unmarried women by 38 points. The president also tops Romney among those with annual income below $50,000 by 18%; young voters by 25%; and black voters by 89%
Obama has taken the lead among independents as well. Before the Republican convention in Tampa, independents backed Romney by a 10-point margin (42%-32 %) with 26% undecided. Today independents go for Obama by 5 points (44%-39%) and 17% are undecided. Perhaps Republicans should have cancelled their convention and blamed it on Isaac.
Fox News and other polls show Obama continues pulling ahead of Romney
