In 2010 Michelle Obama was the recipient of the Kids' Choice Big Help Award for her work on the 'Let's Move!' campaign. This year it was the First Lady's turn to give out the award to country pop singer-songwriter and actress Taylor Swift for her efforts to help American tornado and flood survivors, schools and school children, The Red Cross, and more.
Mrs. Obama: Taylor Smith may be in the news most often for her award winning songs and multi-platinum records, but every step of the way she has always made it a point to give back. It is my great privilege to present Nickelodeon's Big Help Award to someone who has rocketed to the top of the music industry but still keeps feet on the ground, someone who has shattered every expectation of what a 22-year old can accomplish. Someone who is going to keep making sparks fly for all of us in the years ahead. Let's all give it up for the one and only Taylor Swift!
Taylor Swift: Thank you so much. I'm so honored. I've always wanted to meet you. This is amazing. I'm so honored to be receiving this award from the First Lady of the United States. I'm freaking out!
