Santorum was confronted by Chicago talk show host Bruce Dumont Sunday night (the Illinois primary is Tuesday). Dumont "asked Santorum how he would grade the Catholic Church's handling of sex abuse by priests. Santorum said he it was not his business to grade the Catholic Church."

...As for refusing to denounce the international epidemic of child abuse among priests in the Catholic Church, Santorum justified his silence on the issue by ironically declaring, "My job.... [is] it to talk about what I'd do as president of the United States ... I am concerned about protecting children."

Santorum has run as a fundamentalist Catholic who actually said that he throws up when he watches the tape of John F. Kennedy, in his 1960 campaign, proclaiming the separation of church and state.

Yet, in a radio interview he could not stand up on behalf of children -- many of them now men and women who have suffered life-long trauma as a result of institutionalized sexual child abuse within his church.
