With the exception of the South Carolina primary, voter turnout in all the primary and caucus contests this year has been down from 2008 levels, and yesterday’s numbers were among the worst of all:

Missouri

2008 Turnout —- 588,720 voters
2012 Turnout —- 240,936 voters
Difference — (-347,784 or 59.07%)

Minnesota

2008 Turnout — 62,828 voters
2012 Turnout — 47,661 voters
Difference — (-15,167 or 24.14%)

Colorado

2008 Turnout — 70,229 voters
2012 Turnout — 65,479 voters
Difference (-4,570 or 6.76%)

with even the numbers from Minnesota and Colorado down one had to wonder if Republicans have already given up on 2012.

Where's the enthusiasm for these 'incredible' GOP candidates?

Missouri's is understandable - their GOP legislature screwed the pooch and so their primary was utterly meaningless. They'll pick a candidate later in the year by caucus.

The rest of the states are down - why not? They get thier pick from four complete douchebags. One is a super-rich @!$%#, one a lobbyist @!$%#, one a theocratic @!$%#, and one just dumb@!$%# crazy @!$%#.

The GOP should be just itching to cast a ballot for one of their freakshow.

ROTFLMAO.

From Public Policy Polling:

Republican Enthusiasm Issue is Real

The paltry turnout in the Republican Presidential contests over the last week reflects what we've seen in our recent national polling: Democrats are now more excited about voting this fall than Republicans are, reversing the enthusiasm gap that plagued the party in 2010.

Wow, those are some big number changes. Seems like many GOP voters are not happy with the choices offered.

Vlad, I think it's more than that... the choices are bad, no question... but even a bad candidate with a good message and a solid platform can see positives...

what we have here is a weak platform and a message that reeks of divisiveness, hate, intolerance and oppression ... they are thriving on destroying this country so they can then call themselves the saviour.. only that will never happen... the politics of the right are doomed for failure... it only supports the top of the pyramid not the foundation... to me.. it says the American people are rejecting their message....

Good point Agent. Who wants or needs an angry president leading our country? Even Mitt has changed his message to one that is more devisive and I first considered him reasonable.

My brother and sister-in-law said they weren't voting this year because they didn't like the choices given this time around. (Their both strong Teapublicans.) From what I've seen and heard here in the condo complex that I live in with mostly senior citizens, it seems to be a trend.

This is the headline story that should replace the 3 state win victory for Santorum.

It's not about voter enthusiasm for a candidate, it's the exact opposite and what happened to the left in 2010 - Voter Apathy, this time it's the right's turn - their not excited, not enthusiastic and not turning out to vote but with these candidates.

I would wager that if there were a choice on the ballot or in the caucuses to vote for "None of the Above" that would win in every state.

Sorry - I'm not buying it... Republicans / Tea Party hatred for Obama, the rampant racism being displayed by there "so-called" leaders will spark them to turnout at the polls come election day.

I wouldn't be surprised if their final political barb before the election would be "Vote for me or the n-word stays for another 4 years..."

The GOP lineup of candidates don't offer anything positive. Everything is negative.

How is that supposed to help them or Americans?

All they do is bash each other, bash the poor, bash workers for being unemployed, bash the left, bash immigrants, bash women's rights, bash voters rights, attack jobs through union attacks on collective bargaining and bash their own party because they can't agree amongst themselves on anything. How is that "leadership"?

How is that "leadership"?

And you are calling Obama and his adminstration LEADERS? Really?? I can name off 5 democrats and 5 republicans that would be better than Obama and who the GOP has running for office!!!!

Obama has been the biggest divider this country has ever elected! He urinates on our Bill of Rights on a daily basis, which of course he does on behalf of his banking masters! But of course you guys give him a complete pass on everything he does. Dont expect the non bias press corp to keep him in line, they are all owned by the same individuals who control our money supply.

If Bush signed the Defense Bill last month concerning the detainment of American citizens without due process, you guys would have gone freaking bullistic!

Are you flippin' kidding me?!!! He has compromised on many issues to please those on the right, only to have them spit at his face. I say to hell with trying to work with you guys and do what needs to be done in order to get this country moving. If there is anyone dividing this country, you need to look at those on the right, pal.

Nothing against Romney's wealthy status in general but being cradled into this world and adulthood with wealth is a factual and most evident "disconnect" from a populace a president is supposed to acknowledge and lead; ALL of its diversities, no just the rich, not just the mormans, not just the republicans and MOST importantly not just ones self.

Romney is clearly disconnected from most of the populace and appears he doesn't even realize it.

I don't put blame on him for that, the atmosphere(s) of "well off" he was immersed in and that he immerses himself in produced what he has become, out of touch with Americans who are not wealthy with real concerns about their families, careers, budgets - kitchen table stuff.

President Obama is VERY connected to the American people's concerns and should be re-elected to continue representing the American people that republicans continue obstructing EVERY moment. Republican ideology IS America's enemy, PROVEN over and over.
