“Look, I’m glad the economy is starting to recover, but I think it’s because of what Republican governors are doing in their states, not because of the president,” McDonnell said on CNN’s State of the Union...
...That’s a difficult argument to make when the recovery is taking hold across the country, even in states with Democratic governors. It’s also problematic because Republicans have been eager to give Obama ownership of the economy.

McDonnell’s trial balloon suggests that if the economic indicators continue to tick upward, the 2012 elections could shift from a battle over who’s to blame for a weak economy to who deserves credit for an improving one.
What a laugh, Bob. It'd be more honest to say the economy is improving in spite of Republican governors and members of congress.

Just what are the republican Governors doing that is so great?

Just what is Obama doing that is so great?
One heck of a lot more than my tea bag republican Governor in the State of Florida. Who turned down a Rail Road Project that would create jobs. I guess that was excepted by a Democrat Governor.

Well, Bob McDonnell is saving money by cutting all support to women, children, the sick, and raising revenue by privatising whatever he can and by burdening us with tolls and fees (but those aren't new taxes, dontcha know?) I don't give him any credit for anything. I'd take Tim Kaine or Mark Warner back in a heartbeat.

The biggest surge in job growth in the nation since last year has taken place in the SF Bay Area. Clearly this can be attributed to the efforts of California's Republican governor.
Oh, wait a minute ...

And, what about Wisconsin's job numbers under a Democratic governor? Oops - wrong party!

Would someone please tell this GOP fart(aka "rising star") that a not too long scan of the Labor Dept report will show that states with Democratic Governors did almost 20% better that those with Republican Governors.

Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell: Then Stimulus Bad Now: Thanks For The Cash!
I guess now he's like, "Stimulus? What stimulus."

Gov Bob, don't let the rest of the country know you are only a little smarter than Gov Perry.

He might be a little smarter than Perry, but he loses points for his ties to Pat Robertson religion. If he were to run on the national stage he'd embarrass us Virginians, but at least he'd be exposed the way Perry has been exposed in TX.

This is the most ridiculous statement I have ever read. I live in the state of Kansas. Our new republican governor, Brownback, and the extreme legislature have gutted public education, weakened social services for children and the elderly, and are now trying to make medicaid into managed care in which the disabled will no longer have the services they deserve. His policies have devestated the state of Kansas.

The economy would belong to Obama if things were uniformly bad, but any forward progress is, of course, the work of Republicans?
Does this sound like trying to have it both ways to anyone else besides me?
And it TOTALLY sounds like trying to have it both ways to me.

Presidents do not create jobs other than those in Government or those funded by the taxpayers. It is funny that we aren't hearing about this or that university being "paid" to discover why Vanilla extract is bad for ones health.
A Viner, 'cornhusker...' posted an article where the Rs are claiming credit. I think what I posted there applies here. I'm repeating it because I think it's more accurate than their claims.

I think the headline should read:
"Despite consistent and relentless obstruction by Republicans, especially in the House, President Obama's policies were strong enough to create an environment in which job creation could begin to expand and make a comeback after the 2007-2009 decimation of the labor environment."
