Calif. police officer charged with murder in fatal beating - Press TV:

A California police officer has been charged with murder and a second officer has been charged with involuntary manslaughter.

The charges are connected to the death of Kelly Thomas, a mentally-ill homeless man who died following a confrontation with police in July.

The Orange County District Attorney filed the charges against Fullerton police officers Manuel Ramos and Jay Cicinelli.

Ramos is charged with second-degree murder and faces 14 years in prison.

Cicinelli is facing involuntary manslaughter charges and a potential 4 year prison sentence.

But the D.A. has not filed charges against the 4 other officers who were involved, despite public criticism that they let the beating take place.

DA Calls Police Threat 'Turning Point' In Beating - NPR / AP:

...according to a district attorney, [Manuel Ramos] own voice may have done him in.

As Ramos snapped on a pair of latex gloves and leaned over a confused Kelly Thomas, prosecutors say, his body microphone and surveillance tape captured an angry threat: "Now, see my fists? They are getting ready to 'F' you up."

Orange County District Attorney Tony Rackauckas called the statement the "turning point" from which a routine July 5 police stop spiraled into an explosion of violence that eventually involved six police officers and left Thomas unconscious and in a pool of his own blood. He was removed from life support and died five days later.

In the 10-minute long beating, Fullerton police officers pinned Thomas to the ground so hard that he had trouble breathing. Prosecutors say he was shocked four times with a Taser, kneed in the head, punched in the ribs and bashed eight times around the face with the butt of a stun gun as he cried out for his father and begged for help.

Sounds like a good move regarding the two charged officers, disappointing about the other 4. It's very distressing to read the details of the crime committed by these bad apples.

John Shriver

Do we, the public, need any more evidence that police officers are out of control? I've been reminded several times, after commenting on police brutality, that there are plenty of good cops. Okay, where are they?

Obviously John Shriver apparently we do because they dont want to see the muddy feet for which they walk in, too them those are shiny shoes...

Remember the story The Emperors Clothes... Ignorance is a bliss to those who think they are too clever for their own good...

Everything done wrong will be made right, in its time, the scroll will be dropped and the wrong actions read off and one by one those who did wrong will be accounted for and face they're own higher judge, a Judge that no one on this planet has any over ruling of, and that is the OMEGA!

like the sheriff in Mississippi said of the man found who had been shot in the back twice, stabbed 22 times, hung, bound in chains found under tons of rocks, "worst case of suicide I ever seen"...

Dr Know

The others participated in a cover up along with the supervisors that sat them down in a room together, viewed the videos several times and rewrote the reports until they were "satisfactory" to the supervisors. The proper thing to do would be to have each of them write their report in separate rooms without comparing and contrasting until the "best" light was presented.

How quaint... they put one man to death for the conviction of a police officer which he didnt kill him he maintained his innocence, but they only jail these 2 cops with Pay???

Azzkissers! There is no real system of justice not when there is FAVORITISM involved!

To stand there and say to a homeless mentally unstable citizen "see these fists?, they are about to F you up" let the angry community beat the meat out of that idiots skull and see if he survives! use the same tools and access he used to attack Kelly. This so called Ego System is so Hypocritical is worse than being hit by the Flu... totally off balance big time!

I think one of the more heartbreaking police brutality stories there is. Literally beaten and tasered to a bloody pulp (like the pic was ugly), simply for their pleasure. He wasn't resisting and a woman by-stander screamed for them to stop after the 4th Tase, which was ignored.

He screamed "Dad, Dad, Dad...!" before he died.

The sad irony was his father was searching for him earlier.

Unfortunately for him the police found him first.

It's pretty bad when Press TV highlights it...though I wonder if they've ever done the same against their own security thugs who've shattered parents' hearts since the 2009 elections.

bigsaf: I hope kelly's father smears them and nails them too the wall, that precinct gets closed down! I wouldn't be surprised if they all went back to the station and had a free for all, now I know why so many trust. The sad thing is, Mr. Thomson will have too pay through the nose just to get it done. Talk about having it FIXED, its too bad he cant use this as a tax write off but then again others would have a cow, lord knows all the calves they threw already. unbelievable!
