Is Occupy Wall Street / Day of Rage in New York the subject of a media blackout? #occupywallstreet

Today is the day of Occupy Wall Street, aka Day of Rage, a demonstration against the power and excess of America’s financial industries. But in the run-up to the start, there has so far been virtually no mainstream media coverage of events. This has led some people to wonder whether a media blackout has been ordered in an attempt to prevent news getting out and the crowds getting bigger.

As you can see on the event's official website, USDayOfRage.org, it's not just a New York event, but a national one.

It will be interesting to see how / whether mainstream media coverage of the event increases throughout the day, especially if the crowds become significant.

Way dark. Of course black out. Think of small Tea Party events with coverage. Disgusting.

Thanks for the link, Captain. From the little I've seen so far it looks like a fairly good turnout.

I don't know about that but i was driving home and hear the segment on xm. They had a supporter and detractor who were given an opportunity to share.

fox news always has a supporter and detractor on every issue...

the lame stream media however... not like that at all...

no wonder fox kicks their asses in ratings

It doesn't matter that they have both supporters and detractors on the air if the commentators cheerlead the one who is on the conservative side of the issue and ridicule the person taking the liberal side.

As to the subject of the seed, I too hadn't heard of this event and do think it's curious that I haven't. It's definitely an idea that I support.

yeah,,, that is worse than a liberal host with two liberal guests bashing conservatives in union... huh?

LOL

not to mention fox gave BOB his own spot...

he is so liberal he is predictable...

regardless what the issue or who it is about the first thing he does is go on a personal attack.. much like liberals round here..

I am surprised more liberals do not watch BOB on fox.

I hope the protestors don't quit, or at least recruit others to take their places for a while. I wish I had the funds and energy to get there. The people in those buildings would hear me no matter where I was.

Well word is spreading, slowly the American people are finding out about the protest via the internet and foriegn media sources......

Unions are getting into it now...

A Massive Union Just Voted To Side With The Wall Street Protesters

On one of the links within the article...it is saying there are upwards of 50,000 protesting now...that's a far cry from just a few hundred 'whinny' college kids that some like to portray the protesters as....There are some nice photos of pilots in uniform marching in the protest...

This has Wall Street/Corporate Big Brother written all over it.

NPR says they did not report because there was no message. Wall Street has been gambling with other people's pension money, selling then reselling then reselling bad mortgages, actually placing bets that the economy would worsen, then reached in our pockets again for a bailout. No, there is nothing to protest about here.

Now, as a tourist I cannot walk down the famous Wall Street. I cannot look at the famous bull in front of the Stock Exchange. If I show any interest in doing so I get Maced and shackled. All in the "freest country in the world."

There are people who obviously don't want the country or the world to see this. And there is another story.

Agreed. And as usual the coverup is often bigger than the event being covered up.
