Evangelist Claims Rick Perry's Prayer Rally 'Broke The Curses' Of Native American Cannibals On Houston-Galveston Area

The words of self-proclaimed prophet, Cindy Jacobs:

You study the area and you find out what happened? What did the indigenous people worship? If they did blood sacrifice, like we found some areas that were very, very violent because the former culture was a murderous, violent area, like in Texas here and all of the coast around Houston and Galveston and some of that area, the Native American people were cannibals and they ate people. And so you can see a manifestation of that in the churches where people turned against people and kind of cannibalized other people’s ministries. So there’s been a lot of prayer over that in Houston, Texas, they’ve done a lot of intercession over that and broke the curses on the land. We just had a prayer meeting in Houston a little a week ago, the governor of Texas, really as an individual instigated this, and 35,000 people showed up to pray and it was only a prayer meeting called within three months, three month period of time. So what happened? The land is starting to rejoice, you see, because of that prayer.

This concept of curses left by Native Americans has a large foothold in the New Apostolic Reformation, and today Bruce Wilson reported that NAR figures Chuck Pierce, John Benefiel, Tom Schlueter and Jay Swallow recently participated in an event in Teas that involved "smashing of Native American art objects" in order to "divorce and tear down the principalities of Baal, Asherah and Leviathan." Like Benefiel and Swallow, Jacobs was an official endorser of The Response.

Another example from Rick Perry's assorted nuts.

The curses of Native American cannibals.

Oooooooo-kayyyyyyyyyy.

Just when I think I cannot hear anything crazier out of the Religious Right, they go and come up with something like this.

For the record, I think these sort of pronouncements are intended make Bachmann and Perry seem sane by comparison.

interesting.... accusations of cannibalism from a "prophet" of a religion whose ENTIRE belief system of salvation is based on the cannibalization of their own god., Anybody remember the Eucharist/holy communion/etc etc.?

The bread and wine that turns into Christs body in blood which they seem to have no problem consuming.

Barking Mad. Utterly and completely, Barking Mad.

I cant wrap my head around the logic - there's got to be some somewhere, surely? - that explains why this continued insane behaviour from - what can really only be described as - extreme nutballs - has any hope of connecting with any kind of sane human beings, let alone Voters.

Each day goes by, I get more convinced I have ended up in a parallel Universe, with a Dr Who creation team lining up for crazy episode on the week.

Perry and crew, as my late grandmother would say, "Better stop playing with God". I don't want to go religious on you guys but, does this hypocrit know, while he's having big fun hootin' and jabbin' at the President, that God doesn't like it? Rick Perry is not genuine. His rhetoric changes with his southern brogue and the audience he's winkin' at. As a secretary I say I wouldn't trust him to read the minutes of the last meeting. What's on the paper says one thing but what he says may be another.

Its cracked me up, cant stop laughing .....

I've now got this crazy minds eye of Perry as POTUS, trying to convince the likes of Sarkozy, Cameron, Shimon Peres that all was well, as Palestinian Lands were healing nicely. All Palestinian misdeeds were forgiven, because he had led prayer to break the curse, and "the Palestinian lands are starting to rejoice, you see, because of that prayer."

Problem solved, Arab-Israeli peace process 101

What absolute nutcases! Baal, Asherah, and Leviathan are ancient Middle Eastern/North African dieties that even I, as a non=Native American, know have absolutely nothing to do with Native American religious beliefs. Actually, I get the impression that at least some Native Americans are on to something spiritually speaking, and that this Cindy Jacobs person, whoever she may be, would be no match, spiritually speaking, for a Native American shaman who knows his or her stuff. These "Apostle" people truly are a mysterious cult from the great Out There.

Interesting LSS,

I also found this about the Karankawa;

One unusual aspect of the Karankawa culture was their distinction in having three gender roles: male, female, and a third role taken on by some males. Males who took on this third role are called berdache (Karankawa: monanguia[4]), and generally took on female roles and activities in daily life, while playing a special role in religious rites. According to some accounts, the berdache were passive sexual partners for the other males.[5]

So they were gay cannibal indians??

Hmm..can't be climate change that's frying Texas, so....must be those durn Idians, the "brown" skinned people that were here first, the ones we stole their land from, God wants us to "cast out the demon Indian spirits" to heal our land. It's never the white people's fault, no never. And those durn Mexicans, they are evil too, gotta kick them out, when we get rid of all those lowlifes, you know, the ones with "different" colored skin and pagan rites, why....everything will be perfect. The only good people are white and "Christian", God told me so, I had a vision, He told me I was the only one on the right track. God, I hope you have a great sense of humour, please don't judge us all by the loons in Texas.

And after 8 years of a guy who claimed God talked directly to him nonsense, there are still a scary number of people that want to do it again.

Some of these people still want to help evoke the end-of-days scenario in the middle east, they were all giddy with possibility of having a ringside seat in the years following 9/11 with Bush's God ordained Crusade complete with biblical messages on official Pentagon briefings.

Why wouldn't Native Americans curse their invaders? Incidentally, even at Plymouth Rock, the starving dumb pilgrims committed sacrilege by digging up the graves of the local natives who had fed them the previous season to steal the seed corn the natives had buried with their dead. Later, when the local natives came down with European diseases, the pastor for the pilgrims praised his god for smiting the heathens who had saved his community's sorry a**. If you don't believe me, read it in the diary written by the pastor himself in William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation. Seems these Texan Christians haven't changed their tune one sanctimonious bit from their fore-bearers. A pox on them.

it's also true that life was so harsh for the pilgrims, they were forced to eat their dead. not exactly something widely taught in elementary school, perhaps understandably whitewashed, but it happened. but to go and accuse slander a whole other culture with it with absolutely no basis than ethnocentrism and xenophobia? well, look who were talking about, so it's hardly surprising.

I was thinking one of the old '70's episodes of Scooby Doo before they went PC. The big reveal at the end is of course that the Indian cannibal was really old man Perry in a mask.

the Native American people were cannibals and they ate people.

I can find no words to address the profound ignorance of this statement.

      Otherwise

Is it perhaps time to rethink the free pass we give some people in the name of religious liberty? Hell, if we can make exceptions and clamp down on people such as Tim Leary or Warren Jeffs, why cant we put all these lunatics and carnival hustlers in isolation cells, padded or otherwise (ahem) as individual cases merit?

This concept of curses left by Native Americans has a large foothold in the New Apostolic Reformation, and today Bruce Wilson reported that NAR figures Chuck Pierce, John Benefiel, Tom Schlueter and Jay Swallow recently participated in an event in Teas that involved “smashing of Native American art objects” in order to “divorce and tear down the principalities of Baal, Asherah and Leviathan.”

Sounds like voodoo to me, smashing NA art objects? What's next, pins in dolls?

The land is starting to rejoice, you see, because of that prayer.

She apparently doesn't keep up with the news, TX has burning on fire all summer.

It's not enough that we wiped most of the Native Americans out and threw the rest in religious bording schools where their culture was destroyed. No, we have to demonize them even further with this religiously whacky garbage.

Yeah--funny how they seem to omit the evil acts of the own race, as well as the some of the evil that's been done in the name of Christ.

And as I recall, Jesus preached against hypocrisy. How conveniently they forget that, too.

folks, laugh all you want, and I agree with you, but take it somewhat seriously as well, these people are in the national spotlight and making the most of it and some people are listening and they do vote. We've already see the types that have been elected to office , both locally and nationally. We'd better wake up as a nation and take these internal threats seriously, our society is at stake.

      Smashing native American art objects?

Doesn't that strike you as being very much like burning the Koran or blowing up huge Hindu statues in Afghanistan that were centuries old historic world treasures? Our religious Christian right is behaving more and more like the Taliban every day. How can anyone be so warped and still be allowed to run around free?

If these lunatics had their way we would be living under their control and it would be exactly the same as living under the Taliban. People need to check the background of the candidates that are running to represent them and reject all who have ties to people who think like this out of hand.
