Remember when H1N1 was going to infect and kill everyone on Earth unless, of course, we all purchased Tamiflu©? Shocker: The scientists who drafted the WHO's governmental advisories to stockpile drugs were paid consultants to the drug's producers.

WHO spokesman Gregory Hartl disputes the findings, telling The Washington Post...
And as one blogger has already asked, why isn't there more media coverage of this?

Sorry, the second link doesn't work. Here is a corrected one: Swine ’flu and Big Pharma: why is there no scandal?

Thanks for seeding this, Carloz. I had my doubts about the H1N1 hype from the beginning. BTW, I tried to follow your second link, but it goes nowhere. Seems to be trying to find http://carloz.newsvine.comhttp/. You might want to edit that.

This does not surprise me at all. I am always suspect of this kind of thing. As a nurse I know that the drug companies are behind a lot of what we end up doing in health care. You have to be suspect of any study that you read or any research done. Remember that most research done on a drug is paid for by the drug company that makes it. I guarantee you that any new drug that comes on the market has not been fully tested. It takes time to find out where all side effects are and who will get them. Stuidies will not show all of this.
New drugs on the market are not always the best, don't be fooled. Often, your doctor can prescribe an older drug with a proven track record that can do the same thing as the new drug at a much cheaper cost. And do your homework. Research your medication. Know what you are taking.
Vaccines are great. They keep people from getting ill from things that could killl them. I have seen people die from complications of the flu and from chicken pox. I get all my vaccines every year and I encourage others to do the same, depending on age. We do not want polio back in this country. I am old enough to remember polio and it was horrible. So get your vaccines but do your homework.

Thanks for that comment, tdk. I too am very suspicious of brand-name drugs. If they've been around long enough to have a generic version, I feel a little safer. Still, I'm reluctant to interface with the medical establishment at all unless I need either an antibiotic (generic) or a broken bone set. I like my primary doc because she feels the same about that stuff. Even so, she doesn't see me often.
As for vaccines, I used to be more confident in them than I am now. I always got my flu shot, right up until last year. But the whole H1N1 hype-scare-shortage-followed-by-surplus charade turned me off in a big way, especially when the alleged pandemic proved to be grossly overstated.
