Domestic political disputes are hurting America's image abroad, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton lamented this morning during testimony before the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Department of State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs. The hearing addressed the State Department's fiscal year 2011 budget.

Clinton's remarks were in reference to a number of President Obama's diplomatic appointments that were held up by senators for political reasons over the past year.

"We're now more than a year into a new administration and whether you agree or disagree with a particular policy, a president deserves to have the people that he nominates serving him," Clinton said.

"It became harder and harder to explain to countries, particularly countries of significance, why we had nobody in position for them to interact with," she added.

Thank you Carloz (yet again,) especially for bringing this to light.

No mention of this has been made by the MSM, to say nothing of Fox News which if these had been nominees of a republican president would have taken this up as a major political issue.

Fox did mention the story yesterday, Rank.

Did they put any spin on it, or was it a bit of their unusual "fair and balanced" reporting?

The real damage to our relationship with the rest of the world comes from the Marxist\Communist infesting Washington today.

That's the problem and that's also the problem for our ailing economy.

And you correctly assumed that I was talking about Democrats in Washington.

That's my Opinion.

The real damage to our relationship with the rest of the world comes from the Marxist\Communist infesting Washington today.

The real damage to our reputation with the rest of the first world comes from the fact that most of them already know not only the difference between "Marxism\Communism" but also how to have their nations prosper under the rich benefits of mixed economy and Americans not only don't, but are so easily made afraid to even consider.

Ok Jack but you have to admit that Obama was raised by communist and mentored by Marxist. At least that much you will agree with, right?

    NO.

But, Nixon sold the US out to the Red Communist Chinese. Ain't it great how that old Commi hating stalwart Republikan Nixon did that?

JACK - You are so right! Nixon was hailed as a hero for that...if a Democrat had made nice with China the Repubs would have called for an investigation.

So at least then you would agree that if Obama was raised by communist and mentored by marxist that it would be a very bad thing for America and that his agenda would be suspect?

    You agree with that, right?

And Jack Nixon is not the current problem. Try to focus.

So at least you agree that the father and mother were communist?

I suppose the ACORN does not fall far from the tree.

Jack you wimped out on me. I still don't know if you think it would be OK if O was raised by communist and mentored by a Marxist? What do you think about that. Because I think he was and I think it is a risky scheme to have someone like that in the White house. You see I am not ashamed of my position on this matter.

I'll be clear I think Obama was raised by a Communist family and mentored by a Marxist and I think Obama is a Marxist and a Communist and I am sure that is bad for all Americans. That includes you Jack.

Tha Marxist would be Frank Marshall Davis.

The Party of NO and political obstructionism should be investigated by HUAC.

John #2.3 needs to know that Senator Macarthy is dead, and so is his, Communist, Marxist, B.S., and I think just about, everybody can agree with that.

If they can't seem to get off their butts and actually do something pro-active and positive for this country, perhaps our President should take advantage of the next recess. Just appoint everybody that is still waiting in the Que for approval. Enough is enough already.

He has wasted too much time trying to make nice with the opposing party. On every issue, their views have been taken into consideration, their ideas (such as they are) were added to bills. Then they lock step say NO. It is obstructionist, and with the damage it is doing to our country on the world stage, IMO its is treasonous as well. It is truly scandalous.

They play games while the rest of the world watches the political melt-down and stand still. How long do these fools plan to wait it out destroying our country in the process? Are they waiting for the uninformed populace to back them or the informed to take them on? Are they waiting for the enemies of our nation to take this as a sign that we can't even agree on toilet paper choices and come at us en mass?

Fools. The lot of them. Dems included as they should have gotten their act together and at least done some things for this country instead of each posturing for their own ideas over their fellows and our country.

President Obama didn't attend a summit meeting with the EU leaders 2months ago. Why, we don't know, but we do know that the way EU heard about our President not joining the meeting, which he promised to attend, was through their news media. I'm sure little events like this doesn't help our image either. How good would you feel about a country that just snubbed you and didn't have the decency to call you on the phone to inform you of this cancellation?

President Obama didn't attend a summit meeting with the EU leaders 2months ago. Why, we don't know

I live in the EU -- in Spain, where the summit was to be held. The President's reasons for not attending were clearly reported in the media here: it was because he felt it was not a good time to leave the country because there were too many pressing things, e.g, the jobs and health insurance bills. Believe me, most people who are not politicians were not upset, and understood. The media pointed out that European politicians were upset mostly because they missed out on media attention and photo ops. EU is not a country, and this particular summit has a reputation for not accomplishing much. One of the big bones of contention was who was going to shake President Obama's hand first: EU 'President' Van Rompuy, Spanish PM Zapatero or Spain's King Juan Carlos. Obama had just hosted Zapatero in DC, and just after this summit he hosted the King at the White House. The US is much more respected here with Obama in office -- and polls show this is true around the world.
