A New Zealand surgeon has been reprimanded for telling a severely obese patient she was 'going on a f***ing diet'.
The surgeon, known as 'Dr B', used the work 'f***' at least three times after the woman told him she did not like the word 'diet'.

In her letter of complaint she wrote: ‘[The doctor] said if I couldn’t handle the word diet then he challenged my motivation and stated that I would never survive surgery because I was still b********ing myself and therefore my thinking was still f***ed.’
Wow, I think he gets a little too involved -- probably needs some stress management, too.

Doctors are in no way immune to using the F word. I guess that belies a good bedside manner, but I think he had brass ones. Maybe that is what the patient needed-a little shock therapy. But he probably needs anger management therapy too. One of our Doctors used the word F###ing loudly and 3 times while on the phone to another hospital in the ER. They are just people too. (although I would never dare)

You know, it must be really frustrating to doctors. Patients go to them for help with a serious medical problems caused from obesity, alcoholism, smoking and etc..hoping for a magic pill; expecting the doctor to wave his magic wand and make them better. But very few are actually willing to stop doing what is causing them to get sick in the first place.
I think he was frustrated and trying to get the stupid woman to understand how important it is that she sticks with it. It does sound like she mentioned the "magic" cure of surgery and he said you're too sick to survive surgery!
It's sad really. I can't blame the doctor, I blame the woman who doesn't want to do anything for her own good health. Even if she got the surgery, I wonder how long the results would last.

I agree with you both, Grammar and Dixie -- still, he probably could use a good stress management or anger management course in addition to the communication skills one he was sent to.
