An American woman has told how she suffered amnesia after making love with her husband.

TGA or 'transient global amnesia' occurs after a person takes part in a strenuous activity, such as exercising, suddenly plunging into icy cold or very hot water, or having sex.

The 59-year-old woman, known only as Alice, suffered the short-term - and thankfully temporary - memory loss after she had sex with her husband, Scott, one morning last August.

I've actually experienced something very similar to this, and it's (as they said) sort of funny but terrifying. Funny because of the actions, terrifying because the brain is obviously misfiring.

One evening, shortly after canoodling, I experienced what I thought was a mild epileptic seizure. I suddenly experienced a rush of very vivid memories, almost like a fast (very fast) forwarded video, running through my head. I could visualize the occurrences, which started from a fairly young age and ran forward. It was like a memory storm.

It passed and I thought I was fine, until my DH pointed out that I seemed very disoriented and I kept repeating the same things over and over again for a couple of hours. I wasn't in any obvious distress, and my DH thought that maybe I just had too much to drink, and I kept insisting I was ok and refused to go to the ER. I had epilepsy as a child and outgrew it, but it is known that post-menopausal women can sometimes start up again. I figured that's what it was, but wasn't concerned that much, because I never had any type of serious seizures, just odd little "zoning out" periods....and, let's face it, I was disoriented, what did I know at that point?

This was a couple of years ago, and something similar happened once since then, some time ago. I'd actually forgotten all about it, even forgot to mention it to my doc.

I was probably one of the few people who read this article and was comforted by it. lol
