Music legend Elton John will be denied his wish to adopt a Ukrainian orphan with his partner, David Furnish. A Ukrainian family minister announced that a national law prohibits unmarried couples from adopting in the Ukraine, according to reports from the Associated Press. Although John and Furnish were united in a civil partnership in the United Kingdom, the Ukraine does not recognize that or other same-sex unions as marriage. Also, at 62, John is well past the age limit, 45, for prospective adoptive parents in that country.
