t's hard to figure whether an Amtrak traveler should be repulsed or relieved to learn that the railroad company recently issued an internal bulletin detailing the "Cockroach Cleanout Service" for its rolling stock.
A prior mechanical bulletin, issued in June 2007, addresses "bed bug sighting infestation," which requires "a more complex pest control treatment" that could include quarantining a car for "Gas fumigation."
It's a dirty job, but someone's got to do it.
From November 2008???
Oh, well, roaches are everywhere that people are.
Well, the article is from July 9th, but the attached document is from last Nov 8th. I doubt there has been much change in the "Cockroach Cleanout Service" since then. ;-)
Hopefully they will fumigate using CO2 only. There is no need to use a pesticide when the object to be fumigated isn't time sensitive.
Then again people may get paranoid of a chamber designed to pump CO2 onto a tram and see a tram filled with pesticide residue as more comforting somehow.
