They lie rigidly face-down on rooftops, postboxes, luggage racks and even in the engine of a jumbo jet.
It's the latest and perhaps the most bizarre internet phenomenon yet to sweep the globe.
Several Facebook groups set up in honour of 'the Lying Down Game' display thousands of photographs of people lying face-down in progressively odder locations.
'We want people to find the most random places they can - the weirder the better.
'There's so much misery around these days, with the recession and everything - this is an excuse to have a joke and do something silly.'
Fun photos accompany the article! I especially like the guys on the British phone boxes, and the guy in the jet engine!!!
Sorry, but if I lay down, I'm taking a nap.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ, er, What?!
Some of the pics are funny.
I am with Debra, if I am going to take the time to lay down it better end with a nap at least, if not something better. =o)

What's better than a nice nap? ;)
If you cannot come up with it on your own, I am not going to contribute to your delinquency. =o)
Everything else is overrated, IMO. OK, maybe not chocolate.
I don't think it's the most pointless thing on the internet. I'd award that dubious honour to destructive computer viruses.
This craze is at least entertaining for its participants and viewers. Presumably.
I agree, Cartooncat -- one person's pointless activity, is anther's pastime. It actually looks kinda' fun to me! (Although I still prefer napping.)
They could be getting into serious trouble such as drugs, alcohol, gangs, etc. Better than that.
i like the jet-engine one, because the guy is goofing off at work. the safety vest is a nice touch. anyone can do a faceplant in a random spot on their day off, but goofing off on the clock is extra funny. thanks!
Maybe he was on his way to lunch. *shrugs*
