They lie rigidly face-down on rooftops, postboxes, luggage racks and even in the engine of a jumbo jet.

It's the latest and perhaps the most bizarre internet phenomenon yet to sweep the globe.

Several Facebook groups set up in honour of 'the Lying Down Game' display thousands of photographs of people lying face-down in progressively odder locations.

Who's leading the conversation?

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. I don't think it's the most pointless thing on the internet. I'd award that dubious honour to destructive computer viruses.

This craze is at least entertaining for its participants and viewers. Presumably.

i like the jet-engine one, because the guy is goofing off at work. the safety vest is a nice touch. anyone can do a faceplant in a random spot on their day off, but goofing off on the clock is extra funny. thanks!
