The bargain price buys a room with no windows or television, no central heating, very little hot water, and a compulsory waking time of 7am.
Despite its minimalist charms, the frankly named Null Stern Hotel (No Star Hotel in German) is in the Swiss town of Sevelen, not far from the financial centre of Zurich.
Designed by conceptual artists, it was opened to the public earlier this summer as the ultimate in no frills luxury.
Isn't "no-frills luxury" an oxymoron?
P.S. The company has two web sites -- one for the hotel: Null Stern Hotel and one for people interested in a franchise opportunity: Zero Star Hotel.
I love the idea of no frills--a lot like staying at a hostel, without the weirdos!
PS. I must admit that having to share quarters with some weirdos is a perk of the low budget traveler adventure. But I am not crazy about being told when to get up!
Give me a private room, and a "Do not disturb sign."
What was the name of that Chris Farley character on SNL who lived in a van down by the river? Sounds about the same.
Matt Foley.
I miss Chris. He was so funny.
You can check out any time you like...
But you can never leave.
The Eagles/Hotel California
LOL we have these in Minnesota too. The non-subsidized homeless shelters with private rooms charge about $16/night...
This sounds much nicer than any place I lived in college, especially the part where, "Guests are likely to have to share their room with up to six lorry drivers, hard up travelling salesmen or passing immigrants." Ah, nostalgia! :-D
Isn't this pretty much the same thing as being homeless --- but more expensive..?
Yeah, the homeless elite?
neenie:
Yeah, the homeless elite?
LOL! :-P
