A 106-year-old American nun living in a convent in Rome could well be the oldest person to vote in the 2008 US Presidential election. Sister Cecilia Gaudette, who last voted for President Eisenhower in 1952, has registered to vote and says she will vote for Democrat Barack Obama. Although hard of hearing, she keeps herself informed by reading newspapers and watching TV at the convent. "I'm encouraged by Senator Obama," she says. "I've never met him, but he seems to be a good man with a good private life. That's the first thing. Then he must be able to govern," she adds.
Way to go, Sister!!!
Obama-Biden 08!

Dear Gipper,
As a Catholic woman, I really appreciate this article The GOP has used the Abortion issue to wedge our society as if they were going to do something about the Roe v. Wade decision. Ultimately they have only used it to get people's votes and the minute they get elected, forget the abortion issue and claim that they do not have the supreme court votes, but they had the majority of the Congress and Senate and the White House for 6 of the last 8 years.
The fact of the matter is that according to many experts about politics, nearly 1/3 of the GOP are pro-choice. The GOP does not want us to know that, but oh well. Well, thanks again.

Hi Maggie-264380,
Yes, unfortunately the Republicans use this issue as a wedge between people, like so much else, instead of taking a responsible attitude, like, "OK, it´s the law, let's see what we can all do together to reduce abortions and unwanted pregnancies." Instead, they use this serious issue as a political football. Sad, sad, sad.
P.S. Wasn't it interesting that the last time Sister Cecelia voted it was for Eisenhower! I think that says a lot about how much the Republican party has changed since the time of that great man.
Gipper1,
Thank you, you are so right. By the way Eisenhower's grand daughter has endorsed Senator Barack Obama! Have a great Columbus Day! Windy, colder but sunny and it really feels like winter is coming.
God Bless,

By the way Eisenhower's grand daughter has endorsed Senator Barack Obama!
Yes, and back in February she wrote an excellent article in the Washington post explaining why. Here´s a link to it in case you, or anyone else reading this, missed it -- Why I'm Backing Obama
You have a great Columbus day, too!
Thanks Gipper1. I am going to archive that one. God Bless, MaggieCat
Y que Dios te bendiga.
Igualmente a usted, Senor.
